Exterior coatings, explained
Outdoor concrete takes a beating: rain, sun, salt, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles that crack and spall unsealed slabs over time. A professional exterior coating seals the surface, adds a durable wear layer, and can transform a grey, stained patio into a clean, textured floor. Because outdoor surfaces are exposed to sunlight, we lead with UV-stable polyaspartic and appropriate finishes rather than a bare epoxy that could yellow.

Slip resistance and the wet coast
On a rainy coast, traction is not optional. For exterior floors we add a slip-resistant additive to the top coat so the surface stays grippy when wet — important on patios, steps, porches and around pools. We tailor the level of texture to how the space is used.

Frequently asked questions
Will an exterior coating handle Lower Mainland rain and freeze-thaw?
That is exactly what we design exterior floors for. We prep the slab, use a bonding base and a UV-stable top coat, and add slip resistance for wet conditions. Proper prep and the right products are what separate a coating that lasts outdoors from one that lifts in a season.
Is a coated patio slippery when wet?
Not when it is finished for outdoor use. We add a slip-resistant additive to the top coat so the surface keeps traction in the rain and around pools. We match the amount of texture to how you use the space.
Can you coat an older, spalling or stained patio?
Often yes. Diamond grinding, crack repair and patching are part of our prep. After we see the slab we will tell you honestly whether a coating is the right fix or whether the concrete needs repair first.
Will the colour fade in the sun?
We lead with UV-stable polyaspartic on exterior floors specifically so the colour and gloss hold up under sunlight, rather than a bare epoxy that can yellow outdoors.
