Why coat a basement floor?
Bare basement concrete dusts, stains and feels cold and unfinished. A proper coating seals the surface, brightens the space by reflecting light, and creates a hard-wearing floor you can mop clean. Unlike carpet or floating floors, a coating bonds directly to the slab, leaves no gaps for moisture or pests, and holds up to gym equipment, laundry areas and foot traffic for years.

Frequently asked questions
Can you coat a basement floor that sometimes gets damp?
We assess every basement for moisture before coating, because water vapour through the slab is the leading cause of coating failure. If your slab has elevated moisture we address it with the right prep and products rather than coating over the problem. In some cases we may recommend correcting a moisture source first — we will tell you honestly what your slab needs.
Is an epoxy basement floor warm underfoot?
A coating itself is a thin, hard surface, so it feels similar to sealed concrete rather than carpet. Many homeowners pair it with area rugs. Its big advantages are that it is sealed, brightens the space, and is far easier to keep clean than bare concrete or carpet.
Will a coating hide cracks and stains in my basement slab?
Prep includes patching and filling cracks, and a full-flake or metallic finish does an excellent job of camouflaging minor imperfections. We will set honest expectations after we see the slab — deep structural cracks are a repair, not just a cosmetic fix.
Do I have to move everything out of the basement?
We need clear access to the floor being coated. We will walk you through what to move before we start, and we can often stage the work so it is manageable.
